The Boss Industrial 22 ton 3-point log splitter runs off your tractor's hydraulics and can split in both the horizontal or vertical position.
This 3 point wood splitter is fully adjustable for any category 1 or category 2, 3-point hitch size. Working height is from waist level and can be lowered to a near ground position, or as low as your 3-point arms can go allowing you to set it at a working height that's comfortable for you. You can also run in the vertical position for those heavier logs. No need to lift them onto the tray!
It is recommended that your flow rate be at least 8 GPM. Actual tonnage and split time will depend on your tractor’s hydraulic output. Fasted split times will average around 10 seconds, and the specific tonnage will depend on your tractor's output.
Note: The tonnage ratings on all 3-point splitters are rated at “maximum potential” per the title and description. The actual PSI of your tractor and other potential environmental conditions can impact actual tonnage and cycle times.
Quick shipping and outstanding product. The only thing that would make it better would be if the hoses were shipped with only a standard 1/2" Male thread for the tractor side.
We were so excited to get our new splitter! The delivery was fast and easy. Getting the splitter set up and ready to go was easy once we found the right parts at a local hydraulic store. I love the quiet and vibration free operation of this unit. Gas powered units are so noisy and hurt my hands after all day operation. I was able to carry on a conversation with my husband while we split! Love it!
The bad: The downloadable manual indicates that the hydraulic hoses are 1/2" NPT, however, they are not, they are a flat face (I believe it's called an ORFS). Took one off, took to the local hydrualic guy & he whipped up two converters, with a 24" piece of hose, to make it back to a 1/2" NPT, so i could use the quick couplers I had already purchased. The splitter itself did not come with a book. The call to the manufacturer was disappointing, them telling me that it's 1/2" NPT. Er... sorry, but no, no it was not.
So far i split a few cords, it was plenty speedy
I had it standing on the four legs, not using the 3pt. hookup, and it seemed plenty stable.
I may fabricate some additional "cradle / shelf" space, to keep the half-split pieces handier rather than them pushing off the cradle and having to re-gather them to split into quarters or 8ths.
The manufacturer offers a cover for the splitter on their website, but I found a small cover on amazon to keep most of it protected-ish. I like keeping the UV off the hoses and such as much as possible, that's all.
So nice not having ANOTHER damn small engine to keep fueled up and happy. Perfect for my purposes. .
Almost forgot: the steel packing crate made an AMAZING ball holder for our garage. Like a gigantic steel cage, added a few bungies and now I have zero basketballs and volleyballs laying around. I kid you not, that was like an extra $100 value.
